On Saturday 16th October world renowned organist Nigel Ogden entertained nearly 200 folk at a packed Trinity Methodist Church in Biggleswade.
Organised by members Margaret Fitch and Moira Fuller the event was a fundraiser for the Society’s 65th Anniversary year celebrations and was a great success. The Trinity organ is an excellent instrument but it is unlikely that many people have heard it in all its glory like this before. The excellent large screen enabled everyone to see Nigel in action and marvel at his virtuosity. From Lerner & Loewe to Sousa marches and Strauss waltzes Nigel really pulled out all the stops and played a hugely varied programme of favourites that had feet and fingers tapping and faces smiling throughout the audience all evening …. and if there were any stomachs rumbling in the first half there certainly weren’t after the enormous and splendid spread of interval refreshments. It was an occasion to live in the memory for a long time.
Here is Nigel playing the Wurlitzer at Kilburn. A bit different from Trinity but you get the idea!
